My approach, my philosophy of giving birth...

During birth is where we learn so much about ourselves, and how powerful the body is to grow, labor, and birth babies. I know that labour is different for every woman and every one of her pregnancies, keeping that in mind I also understand how our bodies are designed to birth babies, our bodies produce different hormones throughout pregnancy, labour and in postpartum that aid in helping us grow, labour, birth, and breastfeed our babies. Utilizing the stills I have obtained, I am confident in assisting my clients during the different stages of their labour. I am also continuously adding to my knowledge, and education to serve my clients to the best of my ability. Which is why I took my Lamaze childbirth educator course, so I can share evidence based information to help my clients make the best informed decisions.

"Having Carla as our doula was the best choice my husband and I had made! I was very nervous about giving birth a third time and Carla was amazing about helping me remain in the present, calm and collected. She ensured me all would be okay and that I would rock it. Something I really needed to hear. When our birth plan had changed, she was immediately on board and comforting!
This was the hardest birth experience I have had and despite all of the fears that came with it, she remained calm, she supported our choices and never left our side. When my husband was getting faint and nervous, she was able to not only support me physically, but also help support my husband emotionally. I could not have gotten through this experience without Carla by our side. I would definitely recommend her to others!!"

Who I am, and Why I do what I do...

Hi there! my name is Carla and I am a Dona International certified birth doula, Lamaze certified childbirth educator, a wife, and a mother of three. I have a background in business, but something was missing, it just didn't feel right. After the birth of my three children, I thought about how much I didn't know when it came to labour, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, my choices and options, support..... the list goes on and on. I knew I couldn't be the only one, so I set out to learn more and to educate myself. After this their was no turning back, I knew what I was meant to do - help other women, teach them their options and what is about to come, support them, prepare them for this experience that will impact their lives forever.

As a birth doula and childbirth educator, I am passionate about helping families during this time in their lives. I am always amazed by birth and how the body works during pregnancy, labour, postpartum, and how strong women are throughout. Through my own experiences of birth and by helping women become mothers, I have found something that I feel truly is my calling.  I feel honored and grateful to be a part of the birthing community. I have found something that doesn't feel like a job at all, it's a part of who I am.

In my spare time I love spending time with my friends and family, I love camping, watching movies, reading, and yoga!

"My husband and I are so happy that we had Carla as our doula for the birth of our son. She was a great support throughout my pregnancy, always willing to answer questions and regularly checking up on how I was doing. On the day of my labor, she arrived at the hospital in no time and was an amazing support throughout the labor. It was so helpful having her there. She employed a wide range of techniques to help calm me and to help me deal with the pain. She worked closely with my husband and truly went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable. Once we were home from the hospital with the baby, Carla continued to check up on me and came for a follow-up visit (where I bombarded her with questions about newborns and she so willingly answered all of them!). We would highly recommend Carla as a doula"

"We loved Carla. I interviewed several doulas and was getting frustrating because I wasn't "clicking" with any of them, but I knew Carla would be perfect after only a very brief first meeting. She took the time to come over during my midwife home visit and was always available via text if I had any questions or concerns.
When I went into labour she was at my house, by at least 3am and was alert, active and extremely helpful with pain management and keeping everyone calm.
Carla is very professional, knowledgable - she always seems to be learning something new and provided up to date education regarding childbirth and pain management. She also has a very calming vibe and seemed to instinctively know what to do for pain management. She is kind and very approachable. I felt completely comfortable with her and would absolutely recommend her to anyone!"
